Know How to Create Pattern of Pattern and Different Options of Pattern Deletion | PTC Creo

In this Tech Tip, Know how to Create a Pattern of an already Created Pattern. We will use Advanced Options of the Pattern Feature. You will also know how to delete this pattern in different ways.

Creating a Pattern of an already Created Pattern –
Step 1

Select Extrude 2 from Model Tree, right click and select the pattern feature.
Step 2
Select Pattern type as Axis.

Step 3

Select the DATUM AXIS as shown.
Step 4

Select the number of members as 4 and the spacing angle as 360.
Click ok.
Step 5
This will create 4 extrudes as shown in the figure.

Step 7

Select Pattern of Extrude 2 from Model Tree,
then right-click and select the pattern feature.
Step 8
Select Pattern Type as Direction.

Step 9

Select the edge as the reference of direction as shown in the below image.
Step 10

Flip the direction of the 1st Direction and then Select the number of members as 3 and the spacing as 250.
Click ok.
Step 11
Now the Pattern of Pattern has been created.
Note:
After creating Pattern of Pattern, you cannot create a pattern for the same feature. You can only create one pattern of a pattern.

Know Different options for the Deletion of Pattern feature –
Step 1

Select Pattern 2 of Pattern 1 from Model Tree,
then right-click and select Delete.
Step 2

This will delete everything
i.e. 2 patterns along with pattern leader.
Step 3
Click Undo to Undelete.
We will delete this step-by-step and in a systematic order.
Step 4
Select Pattern 2 of Pattern 1 from Model Tree,
then right-click and select Delete Pattern.

Step 5

Now the pattern of the pattern is deleted.
Now check if the name is displayed as Pattern 1 of Extrude 2.

Step 6

Now, Select Pattern 1 of Extrude 2 from Model Tree,
then right-click and select Delete Pattern.
Step 7
Now only Extrude 2 will remain and Pattern 1 will be deleted.
